My interest in international LGBTQ activism brought me to Cuba during the sixth regional conference for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association for Latin America and the Caribbean (ILGALAC).

Founded in 1978, ILGA is a community-based, non-governmental organization focused on equal rights for LGBTQ people and the elimination of any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.  This was the first time ILGA held a conference in Cuba.

After the conference, I followed events for Cuba's Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (similar to Pride in the United States).

Other images are from my travels around Cuba during an additional trip to the island.
